Cross-docking with every hand‑off in order.

Cross-docking moves inbound cargo onto outbound lorries with little or no storage. FOLK follows each parent order and its child orders through QC, sorting, grouping, dock, driver and lorry assignment, picking, collection and delivery.

The flow, step by step.

The office and the floor see the same sequence, and an order cannot jump to a stage that breaks it.

  1. Arrival and QC

Find the parent order, check the incoming child orders and record their condition.

  2. Sorting

Scan each child order into the right destination group.

  3. Group and dock

Bring orders for the same route together and assign the outbound dock.

  4. Driver and lorry

Assign the driver and the lorry to the group, each on the record.

  5. Pick and collect

The floor team picks, verifies and releases to the driver, who signs.

  6. Deliver

Delivery completes the child orders. The parent closes when all are done.

Flexible flow, never out of sequence.

Setup, daily work and oversight are kept apart. Teams can adapt an approved flow, but nobody can push an order into a stage it is not ready for.

  • Only valid next stepsEach order offers just the actions that fit its current stage.
  • Groups stay consistentOrders in a group share the same driver, lorry and dock.
  • Parent and child stay linkedProgress on every child order shows on the parent, through to delivery.

Ask a question
What is cross-docking?

Cross-docking moves inbound cargo onto outbound vehicles with little or no storage in between. Goods arrive, are checked and sorted, grouped by destination and loaded for delivery.

How does FOLK manage cross-docking?

FOLK links each parent order to its child orders and follows them through QC, sorting, grouping, dock assignment, driver and lorry assignment, picking, collection and delivery. The parent order closes when all its child orders are complete.

Can drivers use FOLK?

Yes. Drivers see the groups and delivery actions assigned to them in the FOLK worker app, and release captures the driver's signature.

Can an order skip a stage?

No. Only the actions that are valid for an order's current stage are offered, so work cannot jump into a stage that breaks the sequence.
